THE FIRST COLLECTORS EDITION OF THE HOLY FAMILY FACLON COOKBOOK IS GOING TO BE PUBLISHED!

We are pleased to announce that Holy Family Catholic School's PTO is sponsoring a community cookbook.  We have had many opportunities in the past to experience the delicious foods of so many different cultures, Mr. Frisenda thought it would be great to have a cookbook to capture the talents of our families.  He is grateful to the PTO for agreeing to offer this opportunity to our school.

We sent home a letter and a sample recipe page to all our families on January 8th.  All you do is fill in a recipe and tell us how many cookbooks you would like.  You are welcome to pre-order as many books as you like.  You can submit as many recipes as you like, you can just write them down, type them up, or send them via email to office@hfccdc.com   We will be happy to get them to the cookbook committee. 

Please participate in our Scrip program, we have the ability to raise a lot of funds from this endeavor.  If you are interested in scrip cards from local department stores, gasoline stations, restaurants, we may have what you are looking for.  Contact PTO President, Julie Gonzales for assistance, jgonzales88@verizon.net or  Vice-President, Maria Schutter at schuttermaria@hotmail.com

What Is Scrip?

Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”.  When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn revenue for our organization.

How scrip generates revenue for us

The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non‑profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers. Because the scrip is purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. Our organization buys the scrip from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount, and re-sells the certificates to families like yours for full face value.  The discount ‑ from two to fifteen percent or more –  is our organization’s revenue.

Scrip is "shopping cart fundraising”

Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything. Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

Strong Faith in the Goodness of God

We know that times are very hard for everyone, but we firmly believe that God is Good and does provide.  We need your help, to invest in the future of our Church, and in the life of our parish school.

We invite you to participate as fully as you can in all of our activites.  Please note the special need items below.  If you can assist us further with the purhcase or support of any of this, it would be greatly appreciated:

• Our school budget remains tight and after much prayer and reflection, we believe that we need to have a part-time guidance office established for 2009-2010.  Mr. Frisenda seeks $10,800 to establish this office and run it for the next school year.  This would provide at least a Masters degree counselor to give one full day a week of service to our students/teachers and parents.  If you can help, please contact principal@hfccdc.com or call 703-670-3138.
• finanical aid assistance - accepting tax deductible charitable contributions to be applied to the tuition debt of several families who want to remain in our school but can't afford to pay the tuition at this time.
• Activboards for Technology in the classroom - each complete set costs $7,000.
• Smartop Mobil Lab of Neo2 writing devices - on sale for only $4,750.
• Crucifix, Sacred heart icons of Mary and Jesus for each room - $250 each. 
• Padding for outdoor basketball poles - $170 each (2 needed)
• Padding walls at both ends of the gym - $4,000
